Order a change to the main fuse of your electricity connection
Increasing the Main Fuse Size
Please note the following before increasing the main fuse size:
-
If you increase the fuse size, check with your electrical contractor before placing the order that there is still capacity for the upgrade in the main distribution board.
-
When the fuse size is increased to over 63 amperes, direct metering must be changed to indirect metering (see this instruction (pdf)).
-
If the change requires renewal of the connection cable, Helen Electricity Network will contact you. Please note that if the work involves excavation in public areas, the work can be carried out at the earliest four weeks after the order has been approved.
-
The customer’s electrical contractor replaces the main fuses and orders the sealing through a metering order. The customer only needs to update the connection agreement.
-
When increasing the connection size, the value of the old connection is credited. The price is therefore the difference between the price of the new and the old connection (see the electricity connection price list).
Decreasing the main fuse size
If the fuse size needs to be reduced, the electrical contractor orders the sealing through a metering order. The connection agreement does not need to be changed to a smaller size, as the right to the original connection remains.
When the fuse size is reduced to below 80 amperes, indirect metering must be changed to direct metering. In Helsinki, the basic fee for electricity distribution is the same for main fuses of 25–63 A. Therefore, reducing the main fuse size does not affect the electricity distribution fee.
